Sunday Hero

This week we read a story called Sunday Hero. It was about a girl and her Oma and the relationship that they have. Oma is also loosing her memory and it talks about all of the things that help her with her memory and one of those things in telling stories. For this task we needed to create a GIF using photopea to show a line from the story and what it looks like. I chose the line “Oma looked doubtful” and this is what I created.

Scientific Method

Scientific Method

WALT: safely conduct an experiment and explain the process and results using the scientific method.
This week we are going to conduct a science experiment using the scientific method to write up the results.  Use the class brainstorm from the jam board if you need extra help.

Question

What are you trying to find out?

Will it dissolve in water?
Hypothesis

What do you think will happen?

Salt – no

Pepper – yes

Sugar – yes

Oil – yes

Oats – no

Sprinkles – no

Materials

What will you need to do the experiment?

You will need:

  • Six cups
  • A pen or pencil

Results

What happened during the experiment?

Ingredient Dissolved Did not dissolve
Oil
Sugar
Pepper
Salt
Sprinkles
Oats
Conclusion

What did you find out? Was your prediction correct?

My prediction was kind of correct. I thought that the sugar would dissolve and it did. I thought that the pepper and oil would dissolve in the water but it did not. The oil kind of just mixed in with the water and you could still see it so it didn’t really dissolve. I said that the salt would not dissolve and it did. I was correct about the oats and the sprinkles they did not dissolve. I found the oil and sprinkles really interesting to watch. The sprinkles lost their colour but did not dissolve completely.
